Our task at Goochland Baptist Church is to be witnesses in Goochland County, VA and to the end of the earth. We partner with a variety of faith groups, non-profits, individuals, and other organizations locally, nationally, and internationally and consider it a privilege that we can make a difference in our community and beyond. Adults, youth, and children at GBC have participated in a variety of service projects over the years. Below are just a of the ways you can help.
Special Service Projects/Events
April Food Drive
April is Goochland’s Annual Community-Wide Food Drive. Sponsored by Goochland Rotary Club, join your neighbors to donate or collect food for GoochlandCares’ Food Pantry. Our goal is to collect 45,000 pounds of food to help feed Goochland’s hungry. Or you can make a monetary donation. Please have all donations to GBC by Wednesday, April 24th. The designated collection area will be in the hallway of the New Life Building.

Our On-going Projects/Partnerships
GoochlandCares
We are grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Goochland Cares various times throughout the year to serve our surrounding community through organizing their food pantry and clothes closet. Typically, we volunteer with GoochlandCares on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Knots of Love
On the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm, a group meets at GBC to knit and crochet caps for chemo patients, and baby blankets for newborns in the NICU. This is open to all skill levels, those interested in learning how to knit or crochet are welcome to join us!
Brown Bag Ministry
GBC prepares oversized brown lunch bags with snacks and small meals for needy students who attend Goochland Elementary School. These bags are prepared by a group of retired friends monthly on Monday mornings, and delivered every Friday throughout the school year.
SoleHope
This is an ongoing project for the youth to provide shoes for the SoleHope center in Uganda.
Past Service Projects/Events
CARITAS Furniture Blitz
When the CARITAS Furniture Bank was running very low on inventory, we helped them serve neighbors in need by asking for furniture donations. Items were delivered to Goochland Baptist Church, then volunteers delivered all items to CARITAS that afternoon.
The Giving Map
As a GBC tradition, each advent season we support many organizations/mission needs at the local, state, national and international level! In this way we serve as witnesses in "Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria... and to the ends of the earth" just as it is written in Acts 1.

How it works:
As monetary donations are made, an ornament denoting that specific gift is moved from our map to a Christmas tree. (The map and the tree are located in the educational building each year.) The person providing the donation will also be given a duplicate ornament to place on their own Christmas tree in their home as a reminder to pray for this specific place and need.

CARITAS Suit Round-Up
GBC collected men's suits and other professional attire to donate to our neighbors at CARITAS to use as they prepare to enter the job market. We were able to collect a variety of sizes of suits and professional attire in great condition. Thanks to all who donated!
