Our task at Goochland Baptist Church is to be witnesses in Goochland County, VA and to the end of the earth. We partner with a variety of faith groups, non-profits, individuals, and other organizations locally, nationally, and internationally and consider it a privilege that we can make a difference in our community and beyond. Adults, youth, and children at GBC have participated in a variety of service projects over the years. Below are just a of the ways you can help.
Special Service Projects/Events
Kit Packing Party - March 1 @ 3-5 pm
Join us in the Multipurpose Room on Sunday, March 1 from 3-5 pm for a kit packing party to support GoochlandCares through the Sylvia Sisters organization. Sylvia’s Sisters’ mission is to provide quality period products to schools, businesses, and community partners where girls and women struggle to purchase these products for themselves. Packing Parties produce packages that can be easily placed in a backpack and that contain period supplies for about one cycle. This event is sponsored by Missions Development - see Mila Spaulding or Martha Walsh with any questions. Summer Family Mission Trip 2026
Family Mission trip dates announced! GBC will take a group to Nickelsville, VA as part of the Southwest Virginia Partnership July 19-25, 2026. All ages and abilities are welcome and invited to serve alongside one another as we support the local community with various needs/service projects. GoochlandCares
We are grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Goochland Cares various times throughout the year to serve our surrounding community through organizing their food pantry and clothes closet. Typically, we volunteer with GoochlandCares on the fourth Saturday of each month.

CARITAS
One of our local mission partners is CARITAS Richmond, who offer hope and healing through The Healing Place and their Recovery Residences, helping individuals build a life in recovery. We do various projects throughout the year including a Furniture Blitz, Suit Round-Up, and serving meals on their property.
Brown Bag Ministry
GBC prepares oversized brown lunch bags with snacks and small meals for needy students who attend Goochland Elementary School. These bags are prepared once or twice a month at our Community Table, and delivered very week. Over 2,000 bags were provided by GBC last school year.

The Giving Map - Advent 2025
As a GBC tradition, each advent season we support many organizations/mission needs throughout our community.

How it works:
As monetary donations are made, an ornament denoting that specific gift is moved from our map to a Christmas tree. (The map and the tree are located in the educational building each year.) The person providing the donation will also be given a duplicate ornament to place on their own Christmas tree in their home as a reminder to pray for this specific place and need.

Men's Disaster Relief Mission Trip Spring 2025

Community Table @ CARITAS Event
On Saturday, November 16, we took Community Table on the road to our neighbors at CARITAS. Sponsored by the GBC Missions Development and Adult Ministry Committees, we had a time of food, fun and fellowship while we served those in our greater community.
April Food Drive
April was Goochland’s Annual Community-Wide Food Drive. Sponsored by Goochland Rotary Club, we join our neighbors to donate or collect food for GoochlandCares’ Food Pantry. Our goal was to collect 45,000 pounds of food to help feed Goochland’s hungry.

CARITAS Furniture Blitz
When the CARITAS Furniture Bank was running very low on inventory, we helped them serve neighbors in need by asking for furniture donations. Items were delivered to Goochland Baptist Church, then volunteers delivered all items to CARITAS that afternoon.
CARITAS Suit Round-Up
GBC collected men's suits and other professional attire to donate to our neighbors at CARITAS to use as they prepare to enter the job market. We were able to collect a variety of sizes of suits and professional attire in great condition. Thanks to all who donated!
